Aspirion Compass — Research‑Driven Redesign & Design System

Role: Lead Product/UX Designer
Focus: Usability, Time‑savings, Design System, HIPAA
Tools: Adobe XD → Figma (Auto‑layout, Variants, Tokens)

Situation

“Aspirion’s Compass platform was critical for analysts, but the workflows were slow, inconsistent, and highly manual. Leadership wanted to modernize the system while keeping it HIPAA‑compliant and scalable.”

Task

“My role was to lead the redesign of Compass with a focus on usability, time savings, and building a design system that the team could use long‑term. I also needed to identify opportunities where AI could replace repetitive, manual work.”

Action

“I started by leading comprehensive user research—interviews, shadow sessions, and surveys—to map pain points across analyst workflows. I then created actionable design artifacts like personas, journey maps, and system maps to guide decision‑making. From there, I built a component‑based design system in Adobe XD, later migrating it to Figma as I developed expertise in auto‑layout, variants, and tokens. Throughout, I partnered closely with developers and stakeholders to ensure feasibility and HIPAA compliance. I also identified AI opportunities—like queue distribution—that could reduce manual steps.”

Result

+22%
Faster time to proficiency for analysts after the redesign, alongside reduced manual steps and a scalable design system adopted by product teams.

“The redesign improved time to proficiency by 22%, cut down repetitive processes, and established a scalable design system that continues to guide product teams today. The AI opportunities I flagged became part of the company’s long‑term roadmap. Overall, it transformed Compass from a fragmented tool into a consistent, efficient platform.”
